Specific Terms – Important terms applying to our Horse Racing bets

Our general Terms and Conditions (click here) apply to our Horse Racing bets in addition to the Specific Terms below. Please note that if there is any conflict between the Specific Terms and our general Terms and Conditions, these Specific Terms will take precedence.

  1. Are there any specific rules which apply to particular types of Horse Racing bets. Yes, we have set these out in “Specific Horse Racing Betting Rules” (please click for further detail).

  2. What is the maximum payout on Horse Racing bets. The maximum pay-out which applies to a Horse Racing bet are:

    • £1,000,000 – where all selections are for horse racing in the U.K. or Ireland and they are covered by a full service (a ‘full service’ being where we display all betting shows, offs and results on our Website).
    • £50,000 – for all overseas horse racing, or where any of the selections are not covered by a full service.
    • £250,000 – for Ante-Post racing.
    • £50,000 – Forecast Doubles, Trebles and Fourfold, Multiples.
    • 50,000 – Tricast Doubles.
    • TOTEPOOL – There are no limits placed on any Totepool bets processed via our Website and placed into the Tote’s pool.
    • TOTE BETS – (where bets are not capable of being placed into the pool in question (for example where they are overseas or another operators pool) and the bet is offered as a fixed price based on the Foreign Tote Returns (or equivalent)) our limit is £250,000

Please note that the maximum pay-out may be lower where you have placed bets on other events. Please see our general Rules and Limits area for more details.

The limits are applied as follows:

    • They represent the maximum you can win in a day.
    • Where your Horse Racing bet is part of a multiple or accumulator bet, the maximum you can win will be the lowest maximum payout for any of the bets which make up the multiple or accumulator bet. For example, you place a double consisting of 1 Horse Racing and 1 Novelty selection. The maximum amount payable on the bet will be equal to the maximum Novelty payout.

  3. Do we limit the amount you can bet and stake on horseracing.
    1. Your total stake must equal or exceed 10 pence (GBP) or 10 cents (Euros); and
    2. Your stake for each part of a multiple, such as a Lucky 15, must equal or exceed 5 pence (GBP) or 5 cents (Euros). For example, you will need to place at least a 75 pence total stake on a Lucky 15 to mean that each part is at least 5 pence.

  4. We limit certain combinations of bets. For example:

    1. related contingencies where the outcome of one market/event directly influences the price or outcome of another, i.e. Manchester United to win the last match of the Premier League season and Manchester United to win the Premier League, or Novak Djokovic to win his Wimbledon semi final match and Novak Djokovic to win Wimbledon.
    2. Any other combinations are set out in the Rules.

Please note: We are not always able to stop you playing a game or placing bets which will lead you to exceed these limits but where we are able to we will and where we are not then these limits will apply in any event.

  5. Do you have to use the betslip we provide. You must complete our betslips with the following information:

    1. the event you wish to bet on,
    2. the outcome of the event that you wish to bet on, and
    3. the stake you wish to place.

  6. Why do we show estimated returns. For any bet that you wish to place, we provide an estimate of how much your stake would make at the price/odds shown on the betslip at that time. However, this is for information only and the price/odds are subject to change and are only fixed when we provide you with confirmation of our acceptance of your bet.

  7. What happens if the price/odds change before we accept your bet. Where this happens, the price and return information will change on your betslip and you will be asked if you want to accept and place the bet or not. If you would like to automatically accept such price/odds changes, you can set a preference in your account to automatically accept odds if they are better.

We may also make an option available to you to automatically accept all changes. If we do this and you choose this option, then please note that you are agreeing to accept the changes whether they are in your favour or not.

This preference setting will work for all sports bets added to your betslip (including any ‘in-play’ bets) but does not work on any Lotto, Totepool or Virtual bets.

  8. How do you know if we have accepted your bet. When we accept your bet:

    1. we will provide you with a confirmation message on your betslip,
    2. we will confirm this in your ‘Bet History’, and
    3. we will give you a bet reference number.

If you do not see the confirmation and have nothing in your ‘Bet History’ then your bet has not been accepted by us. Please contact our customer service team if you would like to understand why it has not been accepted.

  9. What happens if there is a ‘void’ selection or a ‘non-runner’ in your bet on multiple events (accumulator). We will remove the ‘void’ selection or ‘non-runner’ and your stake will be placed on the remaining selections (i.e. a triple will become a double or a double will become a single, and so on). We will also adjust your estimated return and deposit balance accordingly.

  10. What results do we use when settling our bets. It is important to us that we use reliable sources when settling the bets we offer. We will often check a number of different sources. If these sources differ, there may be a slight delay while we seek confirmation of the result. Where we use a specific source, we will mention it in the Rules.

  11. What happens if a winner is disqualified or a decision is amended after the result is confirmed. The disqualification or amendment will not change the result for the purposes of settling the bet.

  12. What if we accept a bet after the event has started. If a bet is inadvertently accepted by us after the event has started (unless placed on a live ‘in-play’ or ‘in-running’ market) the bet will only stand provided that:

    1. the outcome is not known; and
    2. no team/participant has gained any advantage (e.g., a goal being scored or a player being sent off).

If the outcome is known, or an advantage deemed to have been gained, we will void any bets taken in error.

If a bet is accepted by us after the start of an event, and the ‘in-play’ market reflects a price for that market, the ‘in-play’ price at the time of acceptance will deem the bet ‘valid’ and the bet will be settled accordingly. If there is not an ‘in-play’ market, and the bet is accepted after the start of the event (including any ‘grace’ time), the bet will be deemed ‘void’ and stakes returned.

  13. How can I see if I have won my bet. Any winnings will be displayed in your bet history.

  14. Why has my bet not been paid out. We endeavour to settle all bets as soon as possible. We normally settle Horse Racing bets within a short time of the match finishing, wherever possible.

  15. Cash-out opportunities. Where this option is made available on your bet, it will give you the opportunity to settle your bet early at the value displayed, without having to wait for the event to finish. Please note that this is not available on all bets. Full details of how this operates is set out within the Cash Out FAQs area.

  16. What happens where two or more of your selections ‘dead heat’. Where two of your selections dead heat (i.e. finish at the same time), half the stake money is lost and the full odds paid on the other half of the stake money. If more than two of your selections dead heat the stake is proportioned accordingly. If two of your selections dead heat for second (or third) place then those selections are deemed to have finished joint second and third (or joint third and fourth) etc., with place bets being settled accordingly.

  17. What is a Rule 4(c) deduction and when is it applied. This rule comes from horseracing and the Tattersalls Committee Rules on Betting.

    1. For our horseracing bets, the Tattersalls Committee Rules will apply unless we make clear in the Rules that this is not to be the case in any particular circumstances.
    2. For all other bets, we may apply the equivalent of a Rule 4(c) deduction where a selection is withdrawn from the event before it has started.

Horse racing data licensed from the British Horseracing Board Limited. If no official ‘Starting Price’ is returned, if no price is taken, all bets will be settled at the last price we show.

Please note that the following Maximum Pay-Outs and Limits apply to Horse Racing:

  1. £1,000,000 – where all selections are for horse racing in the U.K. or Ireland and covered by a full service (a ‘full service’ being where we display all betting shows, offs and results on our Website).
  2. £50,000 – for all overseas horse racing, or where any of the selections are not covered by a full service.
  3. £250,000 – for Ante-Post racing.
  4. £50,000 – Forecast Doubles, Trebles and Fourfold, Multiples.
  5. £50,000 – Tricast Doubles.
  6. TOTEPOOL – There are no limits placed on any Totepool bets processed via our Website and placed into Tote (Successor Company) Limited’s pool.
  7. TOTE BETS – (where bets are not capable of being placed into the pool in question (for example where they are overseas or another operators pool) and the bet is offered as a fixed price based on the Foreign Tote Returns (or equivalent)) our limit is £250,000 to any one person in any one day.

The following are general rules applicable to all types of bet on horse racing, unless expressly stated to be otherwise:

  • All bets placed on UK and Irish horse racing will be settled on a First Past the Post basis and the official result.
  • The official result is the result announced at the "weigh-in" on the day; after any Steward's Enquiries and/or objections have been considered.
  • The exceptions where First Past the Post does not apply, and bets are only settled according to the official result are:
    • A selection taking the wrong course.
    • A selection carrying the wrong weight or the jockey failing to weigh-in.
    • Any Ante Post bet.
    • A Forecast or Tricast bet.
    • A void race.
    • Any Tote/Pari-Mutuel bet.
    • A selection given as the winner in error by the judge.
    • A bet placed on a two-runner race or a special match bet.
    • A bet placed in a “without the favourite” market.
    • Any other special market.
    • Aintree Grand National
    • International Horse Racing
  • The Double Result concession is subject to a maximum pay-out enhancement of £5,000 above the original settlement amount had the concession not been applied. For example if the true settlement was £3,000 the revised settlement after applying the concession will be subject to a maximum of £8,000. A Double Result concession does not apply to the Grand National.

Ante-post

  • An ante-post bet is defined as a bet taken at a price, anytime before 10 a.m. on the day that the final declaration to run is made.
  • Ante-post bets are accepted on the basis all-in run or not, entered or not. Except where specifically stated otherwise, stakes are lost on an ante-post bet if a selection does not take part and no Tattersalls' Rule 4(c) deductions are made from winning ante-post bets.
  • When the same horse is taken to win two or more races in ante-post doubles, trebles and accumulators special reduced odds will be laid.
  • On days when classic or other trials occur, ante-post betting may be suspended and new prices issued.
  • Jockey Club Rule 121 decrees that stewards are empowered to reduce the numbers in a race if, at the overnight declaration stage, too many have been left in for the safety of horses and jockeys. Ante-post bets on horses compulsorily withdrawn in these circumstances will be void and stakes returned.
  • Ante-post bets are settled at the Price and Place terms applicable at the time of acceptance. Should a wrong Price or Place terms be given in error we reserve the right to settle the bet at the correct Price/Place terms that were available at the time the bet was struck.
  • Should a bet struck at a price on the day of an event couple selection(s) in that event with selection(s) in future event(s) then if the first selection(s) does not run the bet will be executed on the remaining selection(s) on the basis of all-in, run or not.

Postponed Races

If a race is postponed to another day and overnight declarations stand, then bets stand. However, single bets on horse racing will be made void and any selection involved in accumulative bets will be treated as a non-runner if:

  1. The race is abandoned.
  2. The race is officially declared void.
  3. The conditions of the race are altered after bets are made (as defined under Tattersalls’ Rules).
  4. The venue is altered.
  5. The running surface is altered (e.g., Turf to Dirt/All Weather or vice versa).

Each-way Betting

  • Bets are settled to win unless ‘each-way’ is selected. An each-way bet is a bet of twice the selected unit stake. It contains one bet of unit stake on the selection to ‘win’ and one bet of unit stake on the selection to ‘place’ according to the terms advertised for the event.
  • In general, for UK horse and greyhound racing only, the ‘place’ part of each-way bets will be settled as per the following ‘place’ terms:
    • Handicaps – 16 or more runners one quarter the odds – first four places
    • Handicaps – 12-15 runners one quarter the odds – first three places
    • All other non-handicap races of 8 or more runners one fifth the odds – first three places
    • Races of 5, 6 or 7 runners – one quarter the odds – first two places
    • Less than 5 runners – the place money is invested to win
  • In all races the number of runners shall be the number of runners coming under starter's orders. Bets will not be accepted where the place stake exceeds the win stake.
  • Each-way doubles, trebles and accumulators will be settled ‘win to win’ and ‘place to place’ in accordance with the above.

Favourites

HOW MANY RACES WILL BE WON BY THE FAVOURITE?

A fixed odds bet is available at selected meetings and is based on the number of races won by the ‘Starting Price’ favourite at a nominated meeting.

Example

Doncaster - Number Of Races
Won by the favourites Price to offer
0 16/1
1 4/1
2 15/8
3 9/4
4 or more 7/2

  • All bets will be settled on the official result after the weigh-in.
  • Dead Heats, Joint & Co Favourites count as a winning selection.
  • If the favourite is withdrawn and no new market formed, the second favourite will be substituted for the favourite.
  • Selections in races where no official SPs are returned from the racecourse in the UK or Ireland will be settled at the industry ‘Starting Price’ (if returned).
  • In the event of no industry price being returned, the favourite will be the runner with the lowest price in the betting forecast published in the Racing Post.
  • If any of the scheduled races at a meeting are not run, then all bets are void unless the maximum quote is reached.

Forecast Betting

  • Forecast bets are accepted for all races of three or more actual runners and will be settled as a Straight Forecast (i.e. selections to finish first and second in correct order) in accordance with the Computer Straight Forecast return. If there are less than three actually running in a race, all Forecast bets for that race will be void – win or lose. Should Reverse Forecasts (i.e. selection to finish in either order) be required this must be clearly stated. In the event of no Computer Straight Forecast return being declared, Forecast bets will be settled in accordance with the NSL Straight Forecast chart provided that three or more actually run in that race. Should there be no official ‘Starting Price’ return for a race all Forecast bets for that race will be void.
  • Where a customer selects Combination Forecasts A.B.C. and stakes £6.00, this will be settled as 6 x £1.00 Straight Forecasts:
    1. AB BA
    2. AC CA
    3. BC CB
  • Forecast bets are not accepted containing unnamed favourites.
  • In Forecasts, where one horse is a non-runner, the stake is invested as a win single on the remaining selection.
  • In races where a horse finishes alone and no forecast dividend is returned, all Forecast bets nominating that horse to finish first will be settled as a win single at Starting Price on the winning horse. All other Forecast bets in the race are lost.
  • In the event of two or more horses dead-heating for first or second place, separate dividends will be declared and paid to each qualifying forecast.

Forecast Doubles, Trebles, Patents and Yankees

  • Forecast Doubles, Forecast Trebles, Forecast Patents and Forecast Yankees are accepted for horse meetings on the proviso that there are three or more runners in each race. Settlement will be in accordance with the Computer Straight Forecast.
  • Forecast Accumulators are only accepted as part of a Forecast Yankee. Any other bet which includes a Forecast Accumulator will be void – win or lose.
  • In Forecast Doubles, Trebles, Yankees, should one of the stated Forecasts include a non-runner, that leg will be settled as a win single.

Tricast Betting

  • Tricasts are offered on all handicap races (and occasionally other races) where there are eight or more declared runners on the proviso that at least six run. To win, a customer has to nominate the first three to finish in correct order. Any winning Tricast is paid according to the official Computer Tricast return which is declared to a £1 stake.
  • If a Tricast is accepted for a race in which no Computer Tricast is declared, the bet will be settled as a Computer Straight Forecast on the first two nominated selections.
  • If a Tricast is accepted for a race for which no ‘Starting Price’ Computer Tricast return is made, the bet will be settled as a ‘Starting Price’ Computer Straight Forecast on the first two nominated selections.
  • In a Tricast containing a non-runner, the bet will be settled as a Forecast on the remaining two selections in the order stated. Two non-runners in a Tricast, the bet will be settled as a win single on the remaining runner.
  • Tricasts are only accepted for named or numbered selections. Tricasts are not accepted including unnamed favourites.
  • In the event of two or more horses dead-heating for first, second or third place, separate dividends will be declared and paid to each qualifying Tricast.
  • Tricasts are accepted for singles only.

Show/Board Prices

Should a horse be withdrawn no Show/Board Price will be laid after the time of withdrawal unless the ‘market’ is reformed.

Early Morning Prices/Day of Event Prices

  • These prices are on offer daily, subject to fluctuation. In the event of a withdrawal(s) we will make Deductions (based on Tattersalls Rule 4(c)): non-runner no bet.
  • ‘Early morning price’ prices are the prices on offer (subject to fluctuation) on our website, and they will be available up until 30 minutes prior to the advertised ‘off’ time or until the first betting ‘show’ is passed by Sports Information Services Limited (SIS), whichever is earlier.
  • In reformed markets, the total deduction on the two or more horses – one in the original market and one in the reformed market - will be calculated on the prices applicable to that market at the time of withdrawal.
  • Bets on horses in the subsequent markets that then have one or more withdrawn horses will have a deduction calculated on the prices applicable to that market at the time of withdrawal.

Withdrawals other than Ante-Post

For clarity, should there be a withdrawn horse the following will apply.

Rule 4 will apply to prices based at the time of bet placement.

Where a horse is withdrawn before coming under starter's orders, or is officially deemed by the starter to have taken no part in the race, stakes will be returned on the withdrawn horse and winning bets will be subject to deductions in accordance with Tattersalls' Rule 4(c). The rate of deduction will be based on the following scale:

DEDUCTION TABLE FOR WITHDRAWALS OTHER THAN ANTE-POST

1/9 or shorter 90p
2/11 to 2/17 85p
1/4 to 1/5 80p
3/10 to 2/7 75p
2/5 to 1/3 70p
8/15 to 4/9 65p
8/13 to 4/7 60p
4/5 to 4/6 55p
20/21 to 5/6 50p
EVS to 6/5 45p
5/4 to 6/4 40p
8/5 to 7/4 35p
9/5 to 9/4 30p
12/5 to 3/1 25p
16/5 to 4/1 20p
9/2 to 11/2 15p
6/1 to 9/1 10p
10/1 to 14/1 5p
Over 14/1 No Deduction

In the event of two or more horses being withdrawn before coming under starter's orders, the total deductions shall not exceed £0.90 in £'s. Should a horse be withdrawn and a new market formed, then any bets laid at ‘Show’ prices prior to the new show will be subject to the above deductions. In the event of a further withdrawal after the market has been re-formed, bets placed at ‘Show’ prices in the original market will be subject to a further deduction based on the price of the withdrawn horse in the original market. Bets placed in the new market will be subject to a deduction based on the current price.

The above scale will also apply in the case of non-runners in Early Price races.

Re-runs

In the event of a false start, etc., resulting in a race being re-run, ‘under starter's orders’ is negated and stakes will be refunded on horses taking no part in the re-run, with returns on the remaining runners subject to Deductions (based on Tattersalls' Rule 4(c)). The number of runners taking part in the re-run governs Place terms.

Walkovers and Void Horse Races

Walkovers and void races count as races but any horse so involved will be treated as a non-runner for settling purposes.

Favourites Performance

The ‘Favourites Index’ market relates to the aggregate performance of favourites over the course of a race meeting. The scoring system is as follows:

  • Win = 25 points
  • 2nd = 10 points
  • 3rd = 5 points

If there are joint or co-favourites the runner with the lowest race card number will be deemed the favourite for the purpose of this market.

Should the favourite be withdrawn before coming under starters orders but too late for a new market to be formed, the favourite in that particular race will be allocated points based on its price at the time of withdrawal, as follows:-

  • ODDS ON = 15 points
  • Evens to 5/1 inclusive = 10 points
  • Over 5/1 = 5 points

If a meeting has 1 or more races abandoned or declared void, then all bets will be void unless a winner has already been determined, in which case bets will stand.

If there is a dead heat for any placing, the points for these runners will be added together and divided equally between the numbers of positions. All bets will be settled on the official result, after the weighed-in signal.

In the event of a walkover, bets will be settled with a default figure of 20 points applied to that race.

Jockey's Performance

Predict the total number of points scored by the nominated jockey at a specific meeting on a specific day, based on the following scoring criteria: Winner = 25, 2nd = 10, 3rd = 5. A walkover will be allocated 20 points. Dead heats are equally split, e.g., two selections including the jockey's mount dead heat for 2nd place = (10+5)/2 = 7.5 points. If a meeting is abandoned before all races have been run, or if one or more races are declared void, all bets will be void, unless settlement of bets is already determined. Scoring is based on intended rides as per Racing Post. Non-runners’ points’ allocation is based on its Racing Post price forecast as follows:

  • Odds-on = 15
  • Evens to 5/1 inclusive = 10
  • Over 5/1 = 5
  • Our Double Result offer does not apply to this market.

Winning Distances

We regularly offer customers the chance to bet on the distance that a horse (nominated by us) may win by. These speciality bets are governed by the following rules:

  • If the nominated selection does not win all bets are losers.
  • Prices may vary on the chosen distance as betting on the nominated selection changes.
  • Should the nominated selection be a non-runner, all bets will be void.
  • Once the nominated selection has come under the starter's orders, all bets will stand.
  • If runners other than the nominated selection be withdrawn not under orders bets will stand. However, these may be subject to Tattersalls Rule 4 deductions.
  • In the event of a nominated selection being involved in a Dead Heat the selection is deemed to be the winner and the distance result ‘under’ for settling purposes, however Dead Heat rules will apply to the price taken.
  • For this speciality bet the result we pay out on is ‘First Past the Post’ only.

We also offer customers the chance to bet on the winning distance for all winners combined at a specified meeting; this type of speciality bet is governed by the following rules;

For winning distances under a length, distances are calculated as follows:-

  • Nose = 0.05 lengths
  • Short Head = 0.1 lengths
  • Head = 0.2 lengths
  • Neck = 0.3 lengths

Maximum winning distances per race:-

  • Flat Race = 12 lengths
  • NH Race = 30 lengths

  1. In the event of a walkover after prices have been compiled a winning distance of 5 lengths will apply in a flat race and 12 lengths in a National Hunt race.
  2. In the event of a horse finishing alone (all other horse fall/take wrong course) the maximum distance will apply. This is 12 lengths on the flat and 30 lengths for NH.
  3. In the event of disqualification the official winning distance declared at the weigh-in will apply.
  4. If a meeting has 1 or more races abandoned or declared void, then all bets will be void unless a winner has already been determined, in which case bets will stand.

Horse Racing (Derivative Markets)

These markets only include races on the regular card. They do not include charity races or any other race not run under the Rules of Racing. Bonuses are not paid for any Lucky bets involving Derivative market selections. We offer Double Result on Place Betting, Betting Without Favourite, Fallers Insurance, Combined Horses & all Insurebet Markets.

Betting Without

‘Betting without’ bets will be settled with the finishing position of the "without" runner ignored.

In the event of a horse being withdrawn, not under starter’s orders, stakes on that selection will be returned. Bets for the remaining horses in the race will be subject to a Deduction (based on Tattersalls Rule 4(c)) based on the price in the betting without market of the withdrawn horse(s) at the time of withdrawal.

Match Bets

A match bet is based on predicting which horse will achieve the best finishing position. Bets are settled on the official result. If both horses finish in the same position, Dead Heat rules will apply.

If one horse in a match fails to complete, or takes the wrong course, the other will be considered to have won the match. If neither horse finishes, bets will be void.

Both selections must start for bets to stand, otherwise match bets are void.

Place only betting

Place only markets are offered on selected races.

  1. Should the number of runners alter in a race due to non-runners, the ‘place only’ settlement will still be based on the original number of runners and Deductions (based on Tattersall Rule 4(c)) will apply. For example, a bet is placed on an 8 runner race and due to a non-runner only 7 run, the market will still be settled on the first three places.

Price range at time of withdrawal Number of Places Offered
Decimal Fractional 2 3 4
1.3 or shorter 3/10 or shorter 50 50 25
Over 1.3 Over 3/10 45 40 25
Over 1.4 Over 2/5 40 35 20
Over 1.534 Over 8/15 35 30 20
Over 1.615 Over 8/13 35 30 20
Over 1.8 Over 4/5 30 25 15
Over 1.952 Over 20/21 30 20 15
Over 2.2 Over 6/5 25 20 15
Over 2.5 Over 6/4 25 15 10
Over 2.75 Over 7/4 20 15 10
Over 3.25 Over 9/4 20 10 5
Over 4.0 Over 3/1 15 10 5
Over 5.0 Over 4/1 10 5 0
Over 6.5 Over 11/2 5 0 0
Over 10.0 Over 9/1 0 0 0

  • If a horse is withdrawn, or does not start under starters’ orders, stakes will be returned.
  • The remaining horses will be the subject of a deduction based on the table above at the time of the withdrawal. For example if a horse priced at 13/8 (1.625) in a 3 place market is withdrawn, a Tattersall Rule 4 type deduction of 30p shall be applied to the place betting market.
  • The number of places offered will not alter in the event of non-runners unless the number of runners is equal to or less than the number of places offered. In this event, all bets will be void. Dead-Heat rules apply.

Match Bets and Threesomes

All horses must come under starter's orders, or bets are void. The horse that attains the highest finishing position is the winner (Racing Post result). Dead Heat rules apply. If both/all horses fail to finish all bets void and stakes returned. Bets are settled on a ‘First Past the Post’ basis.

In the event of a nominated selection being involved in a dead heat the selection is deemed to be the winner and the distance result ‘under’ for settling purposes, however Dead Heat rules will apply to the price taken.

Horse Racing (Non UK and Ireland)

Betfred.com accept bets for foreign racing where we advertise meetings/races on Betfred.com

Where Fixed Odds are offered, if no price is taken, bets will be settled at the SP returned by the relevant feed provider

If there is no SP returned by the relevant feed provider, then the bets will be settled at the last price available with Betfred.

Coupled Horses

Some horses may be coupled in all Tote pools. If a bet is placed on two or more coupled selections and one is a non-runner, the bet will stand on the remaining selection(s). When coupled horses finish first and second (1-1A or vice versa), for settlement purposes Exactas and Quinellas will apply to the 3rd place horse.

Special Doubles/Trebles/Accumulators

A special double/treble/accumulator may be offered on certain occasions. In the event of any non runners which will incur a Deduction (based on Tattersall Rule 4(c)), the Tattersall Rule 4(c) deduction will be applied and may affect the special price. Should the revised special price be less than multiplied ‘Starting Price’ odds, the bet will revert to settlement by the SP odds. Should a special double/treble/accumulator include a non-runner then the remaining selections of the bet will be settled at ‘Starting Price’.

Daily Jockey Specials

This market only applies to a jockey’s booked rides in the race-card. For any jockey who takes a spare ride, that/those rides will not count for settlement purposes.

  • Cash-out opportunities. Where this option is made available on your bet, it will give you the opportunity to settle your bet early at the value displayed, without having to wait for the event to finish. Please note that this is not available on all bets. Full details of how this operates is set out within the Cash Out FAQs area.

  • What happens where two or more of your selections ‘dead heat’.

  • What is a Rule 4(c) deduction and when is it applied.

Total Racecard Numbers

  • Total Racecard Numbers betting is the total of the racecard numbers of the winning horses at a race meeting.
  • If there is a dead heat for first, the card numbers for these runners will be added together and divided equally by the number of horses in the dead heat.
  • Should any race be declared void or abandoned, all bets shall be void unless a winning selection has already been determined.
  • In the event of a walkover, an allocation will be made, namely the racecard number of the horse that walked over.

Total Racecard numbers Odd/Even

This is an Odd or Even bet based on the total aggregate winning racecard numbers at any one meeting ending with an Odd or Even number. The rules follow the same principle as Total Racecard Numbers. If the total is not a whole number, bets will be void.

E.g. Race One won by number 6, Race Two won by no. 5, Race Three won by no.4 = Total Number 15 = Odd.</p<

  • In the event of a horse being withdrawn, not under starter’s orders, stakes on that selection will be returned. Bets for the remaining horses in the race will be subject to a deduction in accordance with Tattersalls Rule 4(c) based on the win price of the withdrawn horse(s) at the time of withdrawal.

Faller Insurance Betting

  • In the event of a horse being withdrawn, not under starter’s orders, stakes on that selection will be returned. Bets for the remaining horses in the race will be subject to a Deduction (based on Tattersalls Rule 4(c)) based on the win price of the withdrawn horse(s) at the time of withdrawal.

Betting Without

  • ‘Betting without’ bets will be settled with the finishing position of the “without” runner ignored.
  • In the event of a horse being withdrawn, not under starter’s orders, stakes on that selection will be returned. Bets for the remaining horses in the race will be subject to a Deduction (based on Tattersalls Rule 4(c)) based on the price in the betting without market of the withdrawn horse(s) at the time of withdrawal.

Favs v Outsiders and Vs The Field

  • Sometimes more than 1 runner will be paired up for the “ Favs v Outsiders” and “ Vs The Field” markets. If 1 of the selections becomes a non-runner, the bet will be settled on the remaining selection at the ‘Starting Price’ odds. When only 1 selection is offered, all bets will be void.
