GRAND NATIONAL BETTING ODDS

All Set for Aintree?

Grand National Betting Odds, Runners & Riders

From Thursday the 10th of April until Saturday the 12th of April, 2025, all eyes will be on Aintree for the Grand National Festival. Saturday’s Grand National is undoubtedly the centrepiece, but there are 20 other high-quality races over three days of spectacular action at Aintree. But let’s start with the race that stops the nation...

Since 1839, the race has evolved to become the world’s greatest steeplechase. The numbers speak for themselves: 75,000 spectators. 600 million watchers worldwide. 13 million bets placed and £250m wagered in the UK alone.

2025 promises to be another memorable occasion and this is the best place to keep up to speed with the latest Grand National betting odds and all the runners and riders.

Grand National key trends

I am Maximus bids to do what only two horses have achieved in the last 50 years - win back-to-back Grand Nationals. We're in Red Rum/Tiger Roll teritory here - can he do it?

Three favourites have been successful in the past dozen Nationals.

The great Willie Mullins doesn’t dominate this race as he does so many others in the calendar – his only two successes to date came courtesy of Hedgehunter (7/1) back in 2005 and I am Maximus (6/1) in 2024.

Eight of the last 13 winners have carried less than 11st.

In 2021, Rachael Blackmore became the first female jockey to win the race on Minella Times, at 11/1.

How do you pick yours?

Do you look out for colours, names or numbers? Or do you study the form, assess the odds and take note of the ground? The Grand National is for everyone, and that’s what makes the race the world’s greatest steeplechase. So, how do you pick yours?

Everything you need to know

What time does the Grand National start?

The Grand National will take place at 4pm on Saturday the 12th of April, 2025. You can watch the race live on our website if you’ve placed a bet of £1 or more. We’ll also be showing the world famous race live on Betfred TV.

How does each-way betting work?

Each way bets are essentially two bets in one. The first bet is that your horse will win, the second is that your horse will finish in the places. For the 2025 Grand National, we’ll be paying 1/5 the odds for the first five places! This means you’ll get a return if your horse finishes in the top five!

How many runners are in the Grand National?

The total number of horses in the 2025 Grand National is set to be 34. The field size has reduced in recent years to further improve the safety of the race.
