| Peter Evison emerged as a leading force in the mid-1980s and won the World Masters in 1989, which at the time was the second biggest tournament in the game. But his finest moment was probably at the 1996 World Matchplay in Blackpool, where he won 8-1 against Phil Taylor in the second round before beating Dennis Priestley 16-14 in the final, thereby beating the two best players in the world at the time. Evison was also triumphant in prestigious tournaments in France, Germany, Finland, Norway and Switzerland and his nickname stems from his close links with the county of Cambridgeshire. |
