To play Betfred Poker, you first need to download our free online poker software

  2. When the 'file download' dialog box appears, select 'save this program to disk' and click 'OK'.

  3. A 'save as...' dialog box will appear. Select 'desktop' from the 'save in...' drop-down menu at the top. It is not recommended to change the file name. Click the 'save' button.

  4. Once the download is complete, double click the poker setup icon on your desktop to start the installation.
  5. During the installation, a Betfred Poker icon is placed on your desktop for easy access. Double-click it to start the poker and enjoy!

Creating a Betfred account

If you have not done so before, you will be given the option of creating a new account when you run our poker software. You will be prompted to fill in some personal information that we need to create and manage your account. This information is kept strictly confidential; we do not share it with any third party company or organisation.

After you've filled in this information, click 'create account' to complete creation of your personal account.

You will be asked to choose a unique Betfred username and the first time you enter the poker lobby, you'll be asked to choose a poker nickname by which you'll be known at the tables. You'll need to type your Betfred username (not poker nickname) and your password every time you wish to log in to Betfred Poker.

Note: It is very important that you fill in your correct and valid information so we will be able to pay your winnings.

After you have completed the registration, you will be taken to the 'register a new credit card' screen, so you can register your credit card for use in the poker system, or choose another payment method.

The options menu

You can customize your game environment by adjusting any of the following options:

Poker options

Please note that the 'poker options' tab is available from the lobby only – these settings cannot be changed while you have a table window open.

  • Avatar – here you can choose your avatar – that is how other people will see and hear you.
  • Auto login – choose this option if you wish to be automatically logged in when the poker software is launched.

Audio settings

  • Audio volume – drag the slider to the right or left to lower or raise the volume.
  • Sound – select this to enable ambient sound effects.
  • Music – select this to listen to background music while you play.
  • Dealer sounds – select this to hear the dealer speaking while you play. The sound option must also be selected in order to hear the dealer.
  • Player sounds – select this to hear other players during play. The sound option must also be selected in order to hear the players.

Game Settings

  • Enable full screen mode – select this to display the poker over the entire screen. When this option is not selected you will see the poker displayed in a midsize window.
  • Chat – view bubbles – this option enables speech bubbles to see each player's chat on the table.
  • Chat options – select your preferred position for the chat window
